ReviewActions.xml Issue-Fixed

Postby a_bhadore » Sun May 11, 2008 7:19 pm

While closing TR( RC 3 version), the ReviewActions.xml is not saved on the disk properly. It saves a file with 0KB. Next time, while opening TR, it gives error as below:

java.lang.LinkageError: JAXB 2.0 API is being loaded from the bootstrap classloader, but this RI (from nbjcl:file:/D:/Tools/TR-2.0.0.rc.3/tr-2.0.0.rc.3/tr/tr/modules/ext/jaxb-impl.jar!/com/sun/xml/bind/v2/model/impl/ModelBuilder.class) needs 2.1 API. Use the endorsed directory mechanism to place jaxb-api.jar in the bootstrap classloader. (See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/standards/)

If the 0KB ReviewActions.xml file is deleted and TR is restarted, it loads properly till next time TR is closed. I am on jdk1.6( java version "1.6.0_03" Sun jdk) on Windows XP.

Is anybody else facing this problem?

thanks

Can you try with the latest Java version?

Probably use the Windows "check for updates" thingme or visit http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/

Thanks Claire for the quick response. I've now updated Java to latest from Sun website. On Windows XP, when I check the version I get following:
Code: Select all
C:\>java -version
java version "1.6.0_05"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_05-b13)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 10.0-b19, mixed mode, sharing)

C:\>

But unfortunately this did not resolve the problem. Still ReviewActions.xml is not written to disk properly while exiting TR.

Hi

Are you still getting the JAXB exception message?

And can you make sure TR is actually using the new Java version.
You can do this in TR with View menu, IDE Log. At the top it shows the Java version used.

If not you will need to use the jdkhome setting in the config file.

THIS IS RESOLVED.

Thanks a lot Jeremy! The IDE Error Log really came handy. I had updated Java, but TR was linking to the older JRE version. Now with latest Java version, this is working fine on Windows XP. So the problem would happen only when JRE is older than 1.6.0_05.

Thanks once again! TR RC 3 is working great on my Windows now and all my changes on Action screen (Tabs, Filters) are getting saved and reloaded as expected!!

I had a similar problem RC3 threw exception always when I entered the "Actions" screen. Upgrading from jre1.6.0_03 to 1.6.0_06 solved the problem.

This may be a serious issue for the new TR users, because not everybody has the new JRE version and not everybody is able to upgrade it (you need admin rights etc).

Upgrading has solved the problem for me, but that was because I was able to on my work machine as I have full priveleges there (unusual). However I use my USB pen for TR as a portable app and we need this sorted so we have portability for this version.
