1. Overview

ThinkingRock (TR) is a pure Java application and should run on any system with Java 1.5 or later.  It has been tested on Linux (Fedora 6), MacOSX 10.4.9 and Windows XP.

You need Java 1.5 or later installed on your system to run ThinkingRock.

3.1. Find out if Java is Installed

For Mac OS X and other Unix like systems:

• Open a Terminal (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app for Mac OS X)


• Type the following and press the Enter key:
  
  java -version


• The java program should print out its version number. For example:
  
  java version "1.6.0"
  ...

For Microsoft Windows systems:

• Run the Command Prompt program:
  
  [Start menu] -> [All Programs] -> [Accessories] -> [Command Prompt]
  
  
• Type the following and press the Enter key:
  
  java -version
  
  
• The Java program should output its version number. For example
  
  java version "1.6.0"
  ...
  

3.2. Install Java

To install Java on Mac OS X systems, use use the Software Update facility (in the Apple menu).

4. Upgrading to ThinkingRock 2.0 Epsilon from a Previous Version

Backup your data file!  The data file is normally named thinking-rock.xml in your user home folder. Once you open your data file with TR 2.0 Epsilon you will not be able to open it again with a previous version.
